Energy Market Company

Energy Market Company (EMC) operates the wholesale electricity market of the National Electricity Market of Singapore (NEMS), Asia’s first liberalised electricity market. EMC manages real-time market operations including price calculation, generation scheduling, settlement and governance. The platform ensures transparent, competitive and secure electricity transactions to meet Singapore’s national energy needs.

Learning objectives: Insights into the structure and operation of Singapore’s liberalised electricity market, which include how electricity is centrally dispatched, competitively traded and priced in the National Electricity Market of Singapore (NEMS). Participants will gain an understanding of how transparency, efficiency and governance are maintained in a highly urbanised and demand-driven power system.
